“Great safety leaders… artfully determine why risks remain hidden, and then do whatever is necessary to remedy that problem.” -- Barry Spurlock, Assistant professor at Eastern Kentucky University
Risk and Safety Solutions has had a busy year.
Growth: What to say when you have had a great year? “I’d like to thank the academy”
Risk & Safety Solutions Academy; was launched in 2018 this learning tool is a multi-faceted approach that provides users with access to in-person and online training for RSS products. The RSS academy is open to anyone who uses our solutions. Our training schedules provide multiple training opportunities in a variety of settings to meet the needs of all levels of EH&S staff. RSS academy trainings include full system demonstrations as well as hands-on exercises to reinforce learning.
Security: What to say when your cyber security documents need a little TLC: “Don’t go chasing firewalls”
Meet Team Watchmen our dedicated security team, including a security officer and security administrator. This team has really amped up our security measures to match our organization's growth. Watchmen has been performing gap analysis with our current department security standards and the University of California BFB-IS-3 Electronic Information Security Policy. The team has also created a formal process for critical vulnerability scanning in the cloud, this has allowed RSS to improve our suite of products by fixing any outstanding vulnerabilities in our applications. This year we have strengthened our central repository and documented all of the new and existing security processes for our department. Go team!
Partnerships: "Did we just become best friends?"
The close partnership with our users has allowed us to continuously collect and implement feedback, resulting in a suite of products flexible enough to adapt to the needs and challenges of any workplace. Our tools have helped healthcare organizations improve their facilities' environment of care and meet industry standards. The relationship we have established with University researchers and Environmental Health and Safety officers has provided insights that contribute to a body of knowledge in creating a culture of safety.
Migration: What to say when you’re caught day dreaming: “My head is in the cloud”
Risk & Safety Solutions migrated to a leader in cloud based services. 80% of our projects are currently cloud native. This migration allows RSS to scale and innovate while maintaining a secure environment. RSS benefits from a data center and network architecture built to meet the requirements of the most security-sensitive organizations both commercial and governmental. Moving to the cloud has allowed us to house our data on three servers 50 miles apart. Users will experience an estimated 99.9% uptime. Other benefits include cost effectiveness showing in both team power and long term savings.
