  • Speaker addressing a room of people about Risk and Safety Solutions products

On February 3, 2025, RSS hosted its first-ever RSS Masterclass at UC Berkeley, bringing together EHS professionals from twenty-two organizations across California for a day of hands-on training, expert-led discussions, and industry networking.

Providing a highly interactive and tailored learning experience, the RSS Masterclass offered attendees a unique opportunity to engage with the Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS) team and peers in an environment focused on innovation and practical solutions.

    A Morning of Hands-on Learning

The day began with a customized training session, where attendees participated in interactive workshops led by the RSS Customer Success Team (CST). The training was shaped by questions submitted during registration, ensuring that participants received personalized guidance on the topics most relevant to their daily work.

“Having an expert walk us through specific challenges we face was invaluable,” said one attendee. “It wasn’t just a demo—it was a hands-on experience that gave us practical solutions we could implement immediately.”

Throughout the morning, participants explored best practices for chemical inventory management, lab hazard assessments, and compliance tracking, gaining real-world strategies for optimizing their use of RSS solutions. The one-on-one support from CST members helped many attendees resolve long-standing workflow issues and discover new ways to leverage RSS software for efficiency and safety.

An Afternoon of Expert Insights & Innovation

After a productive morning, attendees transitioned to an afternoon symposium featuring discussions on emerging trends and technologies in environmental health and safety. Industry experts led engaging presentations on:

AI in EHS – How artificial intelligence is transforming risk assessment, safety compliance, and predictive analytics in research environments.

Wearable Tech for Safety – The latest advancements in wearable technology and how they are enhancing real-time monitoring and risk mitigation.

RSS Software Innovations – Exclusive insights into new features, updates, and future developments designed to streamline EHS workflows.

These sessions sparked meaningful discussions about the future of EHS, how technology is shaping the field, and how organizations can stay ahead of the curve.
“It was helpful to hear from experts about where EHS is headed,” one attendee noted. “The conversations about AI and wearable tech made me think differently about what’s possible in our field.”

    Building Connections & Sharing Knowledge

Beyond training and expert insights, the RSS Masterclass provided valuable networking opportunities. Attendees connected with peers from universities and research institutions across California, exchanging success stories, challenges, and strategies for improving safety culture on their campuses.

The event also provided a rare opportunity for direct engagement with the RSS team, allowing participants to share feedback, ask questions, and discuss how the platform can better serve their evolving needs.

“I left with a stronger understanding of the software, new professional connections, and a lot of ideas to bring back to my team,” said one participant.

    Key Takeaways

The first-ever RSS Masterclass was a resounding success, providing attendees with actionable knowledge, hands-on experience, and forward-thinking insights into the future of EHS. Whether they were new to RSS solutions or longtime users, participants walked away with a deeper understanding of how to maximize their software, implement best practices, and stay ahead of industry trends.
