There’s something uniquely valuable about spending time face-to-face with the teams we support. Recently, I visited the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team at UC Davis Health (UCDH) for a day of collaboration, conversation, and hands-on problem-solving. Spending time in the EHS offices gave me a great window into the critical work this team does to support the safety of one of the region’s premier healthcare and research institutions.
The day started with the team’s weekly check-in, where they shared key updates, recent wins, and ongoing challenges. April is a busy month for the UCDH EHS team, with multiple projects and responsibilities in motion—everything from onboarding new Principal Investigators and training incoming students and employees, to managing inspection programs and investigating incidents. Their workload reflects the dynamic nature of their environment, and their commitment to supporting safe research and clinical operations is clear.
In the afternoon, we hosted an RSS Inspect software demo, with over 30 attendees from across the organization. Jae, a member of the Risk and Safety Solutions Customer Success Team, led the session and fielded questions about how the software can support their inspection workflows. These onsite visits function like open office hours—giving team members a chance to get direct support, learn about new features, and share feedback to improve their day-to-day experience with the software.
The UCDH EHS team exemplifies what it means to be proactive, adaptable, and dedicated to safety, and it was a privilege to spend the day learning from their work. Visits like these strengthen our ability to create and support solutions that are rooted in real-world needs and challenges, ultimately improving outcomes for all our partners.
